#tbt – What Goes Around

1995: It was my third marathon. I thought I knew what I was doing, and I thought I was ready to qualify for Boston. If you take a close look at my singlet, you can see the faded “3:09:59”. So I headed to the fast course at Baystate.

The result was sorta disappointing at the time, though a PR by over a minute. That’s a very sarcastic arm-waving you see. It took another two age groups before I finally qualified.

This struck me today: When I qualified again this year, I was only 22 seconds slower, 21 years later.
